Champions League - Nasri and Silvestre out

Samir Nasri and Mikael Silvestre have been ruled out of Arsenal's Champions League trip to Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday.

Midfielder Nasri suffered an ankle injury on international duty with France and failed a fitness test on Tuesday morning to determine whether he would travel to Ukraine.

Silvestre, who made a shock move to the Emirates from Manchester United in the transfer window, was expected to make his Arsenal debut in the Group G opener but remains sidelined by a thigh injury he picked up in August.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be able to call on Emmanuel Eboue and Gael Clichy, however, who have both been declared fit and named in the 18-man squad.

Arsenal squad: Manuel Almunia, Bacary Sagna, Cesc Fabregas, Kolo Toure, William Gallas, Robin van Persie, Carlos Vela, Theo Walcott, Denilson, Aaron Ramset, Alex Song, Jack Wilshere, Johan Djourou, Lukasz Fabianski, Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor, Nicklas Bendtnar, Emmanuel Eboue

Another Big Week Ahead for Arsenal

David
03rd April 2006

After the 5-0 thumping of Villa on Saturday, which ended a great week for Gooners, this is another big week, with too massive games for the club.

You can see the goals as shown on You Tube by clicking here.

Wednesday is the 2nd leg of the Champions League against Juventus, and then its Old Trafford on Sunday to play Man Utd.

I particularly enjoyed Henry's sublime goals against Villa, his 20th & 21st for the club this season. The only damper to the game result, is the injuries to Manu Eboue and Cesc Fabregas, who are both no more than 50-50 to play against Juve. Having said that, last week's win over the "Old Lady" has added more confidence to the side, and I do fancy us to get a result in Turin and progressing to the semi finals.

Old Trafford will be another big test and I think the game on Wednesday will have a bearing on how that goes.
