Footballs is back and so am I

David
28th August 2006

Greetings Gooners,

I am back from my summer hiatus, so whats been happening over the last 2 months?
Rosicky

Not much in the way of new signings, with only Thomas "Little Mozart" Rosicky arriving. We have said farewell to the Ice Man, Bobby Pires, and the Sol Campbell who was leaving us to play abroad, and ends up in Portsmouth. Ashley Cole could still be on his way out of the club, but at the moment, no bid has been accepted for him.

Events on the pitch so far have been mixed.

We have secured qualification for the Champions League, and now end up in a group along with CSKA Moscow, Hamburg, and FC Porto. We kick off the Champions' League campaign with a tricky trip to Hamburg on the 13th of September, followed by a premiership trip to Old Trafford to play Man Utd on the 17th.
Click here for the draw in full.

Talking of the Premiership, we are 2 games in, and so far have only picked up the one point. I did get back to see the Man City game, and though the result was a huge dissapointment, our passing and movement was good, but we lack sharpness in front of goal.

A fit Henry would have scored at least 1 of the chances that came his way on Saturday.

Next up is Middlesbrough at home, hopefully we get our season going the right way with that game.

Its good to be back.

Arsenal Left Back Curse Continues With New Cole Injury

David
28th February 2006

Ashley Cole picked up an injury last night playing for the Reserves against the shower of shite.

The 25-year-old defender had to limp out of a reserve-team match after only 7 minutes at Barnet's Underhill ground following a challenge from Andy Bircham.

An Arsenal spokesperson said "He seems to have sprained his left ankle. It's not a recurrence of the old injury." Hmmm great, but a sprained ankle probably means he is not going to be back anytime soon. Add that to the setback on Gael Clichey last week, and things just don't get better.

Arsenal V Everton Team News and Preview

David
20th January 2006

The curse of the left back has struck again, Pascal Cygan of course is now missing - so who is going to play there, or rather will want to play there remains to be seen.

Sol Campbell is back but Ashley Cole is out again after picking up a thigh strain.

I was actually dreaming of playing left back for Arsenal but just as I was imagining my overlapping skills been watched by millions I have tweaked the right ankle so I'm out as well.

Team From : Lehmann, Lauren, Djourou, Senderos, Campbell, Gilbert, Ljungberg, Gilberto, Hleb, Fabregas, Pires, Flamini, Henry, Reyes, Bergkamp, Lupoli, Quincy, Larsson, Almunia.

Gooners outside the UK remember the game is live on Fox Soccer Channel from 7.30 am so don't go overboard on the piss tonight.

Those of you either too hung over, or who can't for whatever reason see the match, I will report here after the game.

I fancy a 3-1 win to the Gooners and at 12 to 1 at Bet 365 I am having a punt. So bye-bye 10 bucks.
