We all know that Wenger likes to buy young and this is for various reasons:

Developing a young player appeals to him more as a challenge;

It creates loyalty from the player himself as he will owe a lot to Wenger for making him a star;

In these days you have to splash out silly money just to buy an average player and you then have to compete with Russian roubles;

And lastly it allows Wenger to school them properly as they are young and impressionable.

The decision making process with Wenger contains various steps that have to be surmounted before signatures are put in red ink.

The first step is whether of course he considers that there is a need for a player in that position, then it’s a matter of the player’s technical and physical ability and then if the player fits these it’s his character.

After all these criteria are satisfied the price plays a major role.

It is said, though we don’t necessarily believe it, that financial people know the price of everything and the value of nothing! Well Wenger is not a financial man; he is a trained Economist who knows a lot about the value of players and he can set that against the price being asked.

If the price does not represent what he thinks is the real value for that player then he may not go for it. He is just as happy to stay with what he has as he believes that he can improve players. And he can certainly do that. Look at his record!

We therefore think it is unlikely that Bellamy will be recruited by Wenger.

Yes he is a forward that can also play wide midfield. Arsenal need two but may sign only one player We think he probably possesses enough skill to satisfy Wenger that he can fill that vacancy that has been accepted by many Arsenal supporters and other Arsenal blogs as waiting to be filled; even if he is 27 years old!

But remember that for Wenger that is not enough! As described above the player has to satisfy two more criteria. The first is character. There is no denying it that Bellamy comes with an attitude. We do not have to recite his past misdemeanors at Newcastle and elsewhere. They are well known. And so is his grass hopping of football clubs.

The second is that Arsenal have to pay a premium price because he is British. And the price put on his head by Liverpool at 12m is enough to make Wenger run the 100 meters to get away from the deal as fast as the Hoyte family does!

As for Reo Coker, again we doubt whether he will be snapped up by Wenger.

Yes he is 23 (which makes him young enough to appeal to Wenger) and he is a capable and strong box to box central midfielder.

He appears however to have let all the praise he received during West Ham’s previous year’s campaign to get to his head (as did a lot of the so called stars at West Ham). But even this would not have deterred Wenger as he believes that the man management approach would have worked with players such as Reo.

No, there is a much simpler explanation why we think that Wenger will probably not go for him. There are enough top quality central midfielders at the Arsenal making the 9m or so required to purchase him as not only an extravagance but a waste. Arsenal's transfer targets

There is Fabregas, Silva, Diaby, Denilson and don’t forget Song who has really impressed us with his performances for Charlton in central midfield (especially at the away fixture at Manchester United where he excelled).

So why add a sixth central midfielder where all of them will be challenging for at most three places if a 4 5 1 (come 4 3 3) formation is preferred next season.

The only way that his recruitment might make sense is if Silva is moved into central defence thus liberating a berth in midfield. But why do this when there are four capable central defenders on the cards in Toure, Gallas, Djourou and Senderos. And at the expense of 9m or more! We just do not see it.

Now Ribery is another kettle of fish.

He has all the characteristics that Wenger would value. He is a wide midfielder with pace to burn, is young but not too young at 24 and has of course international experience at the top level. We have not heard anything negative about his character and he is French! He is also best mates with Henry and has expressed the desire to play for Arsenal!

There is however one item that is needed to complete the jigsaw puzzle. The price. This unfortunately will need to be negotiated in a market place that will be awash with the monies coming from the new multimillion pound deal that the Premier league has secured for its clubs.

At least Bayern (with the Hargreaves transfer money now available) and Liverpool will be bidding for the player. Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been mentioned as possible bidders. If they do and the fee is pushed beyond 15m Wenger may pull out!

"Ribery will leave for a significant fee that is good for l'OM," said Olympique Marseille president Pape Diouf.

"At the end of next week, we should know more about my future” Ribery told a French newspaper.

Fingers on the buzzers.

I too would be surprised if Wenger bought Bellamy. It will not happen. As for Ribery, he has pace to burn, but does he have goals in him? I don't think so. He is no Pires. He has a poor goalscoring record in a mediocre league. I would argue that he can't influence a game like, say, Robben. I think we'd be better off buying Babel from Ajax.

Not sure what you are actually saying here.

There have been dozens of players linked with Arsenal already.

Ribery, being French is always linked. The whole best friends with Henry does not wash with me, last Summer Gallas was Henry's best friend. Sounds like Henry is fickle in his choice of friends.

I agree we need a winger, but as you also pointed out, a winger in a 4 3 3.

Henry in the middle, Van Persie on the right, and a player on the left.

Could this be Walcott? Or Babbel, or any other winger?

Wenger should only buy, if the player he is buying will walk into the first XI, like Gallas did last Summer.

One thing i was thinking the other day.. what was Pires' goalscoring record before he came to Arsenal. I can't recall exactly.... Oh and also you are wrong in saying that Ribery is squeaky clean. He has a reputation of being arrogant and selfish from his days in France and Turkey (where he went for purely monetary reasons).

What's all this about? Ribery, Bellamy and Rio Cockroach are no hoppers and will bring nothing new to the team be it goals or delivery quality from which goals can be made.

If we wanna use the quality at disposal we need to inject speed and power from a guy who has both and tricks as well. Quaresma is a guy who would fit our style of play like a hand in a glove. He would receive passes from Fab and do dummies that would make mugs of defenders. Would combine well with RVP who would both run rings around midfielders like a chinese circus.
And if Titti goes which I hope he finally does, I would welcome Eto+17m like a rain in a desert.
On top of that, I would love a tall strong central defender who can a read a game like Campbel used to before he got into lifestyle problems and his subsequent demise. Cambbel and Toure complemented each other while Gallas just get in each others way hence leakage. That sorted I would love a fearless combative midfielder to do a dirty now and then. He should also be able to tell some lazy bastards to stick in the boot when the going gets tough or f$ck off. I do not want to see that game at Brammal lane in january when no one could stick the boot in or just run and hurry up people to make mistakes

While ManU are signing the next best young Portugese and Brazilian studs, you are arguing about some screwfaced Frenchman who is more confused than a two dollar callgirl. Keep your traditions;your cutesy team playing pretty football; your laughable so called VALUES as Wenger puts it. Your destiny is fifth . Losers!!

I love the whole "we think" thing, its like being taught how to suck eggs by the queen!

To a certaibn extent your logic seems to make sense your Majesty, but not completely. I think that you are saying we will not sign Reo because we have too many people competing for that defensive midfield role? I disagree. We have Silva and Diaby. Denilson is great but I wouldnt say he is the defensive foil to Cesc's attacking prowess. Flamini is off and I'm not sure that Song will be with us next season either. I dont know that I would let Gilberto go for Reo, I think he does a great job for us and is quite the unsung hero. However, maybe Wenger doesnt think that GS has the right defensive attributes matched with a range of short and long passes to really get the best out of Rosicky, Hleb and Cesc. Maybe Reo's burst of energy, his combative nature and his passing skills is more suited to our midfield now, where as Gilberto's style was more suited to PV's midfield? Diaby, Cesc, Reo and Dennilson competing for 2 or 3 CM places seems to make sense and doesn't look bad to me. In addition, Rosicky, Hleb, Walcott and Ribbery (or Babel)competing for two places on the wing (Freddie's on his way) looks like quite a strong midfield Your Majesty.

Your right about Bellamy, no way will that happen, I think its more likely that we'll get Eto and lose Henry but hey ho!

Ribery is good. His pace shows he can fit in our coming system of 433. Where his playing now only misses a good teacher like Wenger BUT i would be happy if we can get a super replacement of Clicky because he has never played the whole season w/o injury which leaves a big hole in the squad. Also a natural finish like Owen or Eto since every one saw the suffering during the absence of Henry & Robbin

Tinka, did you say clichy has never played a whole season without getting injured. He played almost every game for Arsenal thi season and for me was player of the season in the Arsenal team.

The team next year should be:

Fabianski

Eboue Toure Gallas Clichy

Quaresma R.Coker Fabregas Malouda

V.persie Henry

Malouda. HAHA you're a complete tool if you think he will play for us. Worst player in the France squad by a mile. I am geussing that you have either only seen him play twice? Or, you are actually Malouda yourself.

Ribery:
I agree with Jonny, We don't need any of those i feel its only Quaresma who can bring a change and may be Babel. Ribery is OK but have you seen his statistics, He has pace, width and can get past defenders just like Helb if he improves on his width ability. The only thing lacking are the GOALS from midfield and i am asuaring you RIBERY CAN NOT SCORE unless given 20 chances with no keeper in the goal.

R.Coker:
The quality we have is too much though he would be a very good additional however if he is ready to warm the bech for at least 2 seasons. The good with him is POWER and TACKLES which is what we lack in our midfield. a part from Diaby all our guys are just too clinical, they believe in winning the ball using their brain i.e. what is the opponent's next move? which is not the case for Diaby, Song and Reo Coker so he is Needed.

Bellamy:
I just can 't stand looking at guy in our red and white. So Wenger save us from Him.

Lastly:
since the season ended it has been the mature players complaining of lack of experience YET they were injured through out the season. i wish i could deliver my message to them that " Let the young guys complain that they experienced players since its them who played the entire season" So TITI and WILLY stand warned.
