FC Barecelona Blog carried a story on the 26th of January about a deal taking Theirry Henry to the Spanish side already having been cut. This story was then picked up by Sky Sports yesterday, followed quickly by a denial from Highbury. Now the same blog is claiming from its 'inside sources' that Henry is learning Catalan.

So, has Thierry Henry already decided to join Barcelona next season?

According to Barcelona Blog:

Somebody, who has got excellent inside information told me that Thierry Henry is going to language classes in London to learn Catalan. Believe it or not but his teacher is Ex-Barca player... Cesc Fabregas!
Does it mean that the French international has already set his mind on Barça? The answer could be a resolute 'yes'! He is learning Catalan... and not Spanish.
With all respect to this beautiful language but you learn Catalan only when you are going to live in or near Barcelona and I do not believe Thierry Henry is thinking about joining RCD Espanyol! This well informed person also told me in all seriousness that Henry asked Cesc to suggest some of the best residential areas in the region.

Opinion: One way for all this stuff to stop, is for Henry to sign that new contract, but if this story is true, he is certainly keeping his options open.

Henry can be spellbinding, but all too often he is a preening sulky disinterested oppressive over-indulged primadonna. His time is up, I will be happy to see the back of our inappropriate captain. Goodbye and thanks. Give me 2 young hungry fwds like rvp and a25.

I've been a gooner since the early 70's so anyone who questions my motivation can f. right off.

So he's learning Catalan? I'm learning Catalan but that's because I have a house in the rural areas around Barcelona. Anyway, most people speak SPANISH in Catalunya not Catalan. Catalan is psoken in burbs and rural araeas. Rubbish!

This is a scam. You own the same site spreading this rumour.

Do you get a kick out of spreading vicious rumours?

Gilberto Benny Hill,Its not a scam , they did the article 2 weeks ago, i linked to it now because their previous article made mainstream media, so i figure they have some merrit. The Sun and The Times and Sky Sports are all owned by Murdoch, does that mean they don't refer to one another ? The fact is The People who do the Barcalona Blog are in Barcelona, and very close to the club, or we could say the clubs rumour mill. The story on the deal been done by Barca with Henry they reported 3 weeks before it was on Sky the other day, when surprise surprise Barca say its not true. You may be correct, and this is nothing but a rumour, but I think its of interest, and like i said, its easy to stop all the Rubbish, he only has to sign for Us.

I agree with Bob! Somebody had been drinking.
Only thing I agree is, we have to support the team that is out there playing for us!
Gilberto, have a look at skysports.com:
There you will find a similar story, seems that the rumour is spreading around.
You must be a Gooner since a very long time, at least you must be very old. How do I know that? Because you have a house near Barcelona but you probably have not been in it since Franco´s death! And this was in 1976! When he was alive the Catalans were not allowed to speak their language and probably only spoke it in rural areas where they felt safe. Otherwise you should know that the official language anywhere in Catalunya is catalan... in school, at University, in public and at home. Might be your learning was not so successful and you have a few problems realising when and where we speak catalan.

On the spanish/catalan issue:In Barcelona they all speak Catalan- your children will be taught in catalan in school - they would rather roast in hell than reply to you in spanish (catellano). In fact they would rather speak english. As for Henry: loyalty to the shirt means nothing - if he is going to earn more money by playing at Barca he will go.

Joan: The sky article does not mention about learning Catalan, but perhaps Cesc is not telling all he knows ! But one the main team coming out saying he may leave is a little concerning.

Carlos, i don't think with Henry its about the money, its about the fact he is at his peak, and wants to win things now, not in 4 years when he is told old. Arsenals board need to prove to him that we will be able to compete, looking at his performance Tuesday, I would say it looks like he is halfway to Barceloan allready.

Chris: Yes I agree with you, but isn't it funny; the parallel with sol campbell when he was leaving spurs is uncanny, he went for the best team in London he could, because he realised that you earn more money winning than just being an also ran. Football is a business for all those involved with it except the 'fans'.The business thinking would be that if the board sell Henry they could buy at least two proven strikers and have change and be no worse off. That new stand HAS to be paid for no matter what the team does or doesn't do. The 'Board' signalled their intentions when they let Viera go and did not replace him.

If you know anything about blogging, you'll know that there's an expectation for weblogs to be whiter than white and certainly whiter than the national press. In other words, you should have made clear in your post that FC Barecelona Blog is a sister blog to Arsedup. Here endeth the lesson.

This crap of Henry leaving is ridiculous there is no way he could do that to the club we just lost Vieira that would be back to back captains in two years and there is no way this could happen but on the other hand Ronaldo is been rumored that he may be leaving Real Madrid and looking for a new team that could be a future possibility but I do not think there is any way he could fill the boots of Henry, Ronaldo is a magnificent player and hes done great things but Henry is a mind blowing player and his accomplishments will stand for a long time from how I see it and losing him would be a tremendous loss and Barca already has Ronaldhino and Eto'o and Messi and there already an unbelievable team and Henry would make them unstoppable but losing him would kill the club as a whole there to much of a young team to lose such a powerful and game changing force it would take some time before Arsenal would be back in good form before they could be a high caliber team

who gives a shit if he goes? we want players who want to play for arsenal, not fuck ups who think they are bigger than the club. i have come to the conclusion that henry doesn't feel the premiership has more to offer him any more and he is bored. not that he doesnt love arsenal. if thats the case, then tell AW sign a one year extension and fuck off. torres please...

to be honest, I think TH is the man, a player we will not likely see the equal of in our lifetimes. However, I would rather watch an Arsenal team with the likes of Sammy Nelson and Willie Young, winning the occasional FA cup, but playing with enough pride to make your heart explode, than be held hostage to any player whose heart is not for Arsenal. I think we have the best collection of young players in the league coming through, and that these boys, if AW can hold them together for the next 2-3 years, will blow everybody away.

I have to disagree with most of you idiots. If Henry had been fit this season Arsenal would surely hae put forth a title challenge and more than likely a Champions league challenge. The whole propblem with Arsenal this season has been a lack of finish. Tell me whos has been the leagues top scorer for the last three years. Thats right Henry. He is the man to take a shot when one is needed. For christ sakes he's still arsenal's second tope scorer this season. And when's the last time any of you saw him play 90 min's for Arsenal?

Im not saying that it's good for a club to have a egotistical showboater, but with big names come big egos and thats a fact. Arsenal need Henry in order to score big goals. Without him they'll just keep having seasons like this one.
