Woohoo, the boss finally dusted off the cheque book and has splashed the cash. Well about 2 million quid from various reports. Its hardly a huge shock he is French and under 20. Clearly this is all about building a new, young team for the future.
Vasiriki Abou Diaby became a Gooner today leaving Auxerre for Arsenal, and of course comaparisons were not long in coming between him and Patrick Viera. Certainly there are a lot of similarities. Vieira was 19 when he came to us, so is Diaby, they are both big and strong. Diaby has only just broke into the Auxerre side, while PV4 was plucked from the Reserves at AC Milan.
The good thing is we needed a stong midfielder, and Diaby is certainly that, lets hope he can go on to be what Patick was. We can but hope.
